White Matter
Cello - Peter Nicholson
Composed performed and produced - Giles Lamb
White matter was intended to be an intimate exploration of the transient nature of life - the cycle of birth and death.
Conceived for piano and string quartet, some of the compositions expand on this with sparse electronics and expanded string arrangements. An antidote to our trouble times - this album is a modern classical collection of beautiful ambient piano and string compositions weaving a magical spell.
After my previous release, Pure Frame, where he used more abstract ambient electronics, ‘White Matter’ attempts to limit the musical means by focussing on piano and string quartet arrangements . Although there are electronics weaved into the scores, the music achieves an understated naked emotional honesty and musicality.
